Abstract

Total of 63 effluent samples from Chonnam National University Hospital were measured for total organic carbon(TOC) concentration in November 1984, and following results were obtained;
1. Average TOC concentrations of influents to the sewage treatment tanks were in 186-16,867 ppm range, while that of effluents were in 189-330 ppm range. TOC concentration of final effluents from the hospital was 58 ppm in average.
2. TOC concentration was highest in Sunday and was tend to decrease in night (except point A).
3. TOC decrease at each sewage treatment tanks was high when the TOC concentration of influent was high, but correlation of TOC concentration between influent and effluent was low.
4. It is suggestive that TOC concentration of hospital effluents depend upon personal activity factors of the hospital.
